I’m happy to announce a new offering to the 2016-17 festival year, a new program for student filmmakers and student composers! Our first organizational meeting took place just days ago, and we’re set to have two filmmaker-composer pairs, each working intensely on a collaboration, that will result in 2 short films with 2 original musical scores!
The two young filmmakers are working with the team of Carolyn & Wyatt Kuether of The Production Farm in Green Bay, to learn the basics of filmmaking, from script to shooting to editing to finished film. When a “rough cut” and “final cut” are ready, the films will be delivered to the two composers, who are working with me, Brent Michael Davids, to learn the basics of scoring film music, from spotting to composing to editing to final dubbing.
The culmination of this intensive training will be two new films to be screened at the GBFF in 2017, created by our two collaborative filmmaker-composer teams. More updates will follow, as we accompany these dedicated student filmmakers and composers on their exciting journey. There is more to come as we introduce our creative teams, so stay tuned! Special thanks to the Green Bay Film Festival for setting up this tremendous program, thank you Cyndee Sweetland, Kelly Koehler, and Stasia Lenhart!
