Five composers traveled to Green Bay this fall, as part of the CANOE program, to experience the world premieres of their first compositions for orchestra! Each new work was performed by Civic Symphony of Green Bay at the Historic Meyer Theater, under the baton of Seong-Kyung Graham. You can read more about the CANOE program here.

For those who could not attend the concert that evening, the composers have agreed to share their night's music with you! Here are the five new compositions — each a world premiere — recorded the evening of November 6, 2015.

Congratulations again to all the composers, and thank you to Civic Symphony of Green Bay and Seong-Kyung Graham for premiering them! Fine work everyone!

With all the exceptional talent behind the creation of "Iroquois Creation Story," from Peter Jemison's Ganondagan, Cat Ashworth's RIT and Garth Fagan, it would be difficult to imagine it *not* picking up Film Festival awards. But, I'm so thankful and honored to receive this "Best Original Music Composition" for my music score for the film from the 18th Annual Native American Indian Film Festival of the Southeast. My deepest thanks for this award!

What's also cool, is that a film I scored called "Opal," from Ramona Emerson's Reel Indian Pictures, is garnering an award too! Opal recently picked up the "Best Short Film" Award from the Women's International Film and Television Showcase!

This past month has been a great award month, and it's exciting!

When I finish a film score, I am usually exhausted by the process, having watched a particular film so many times it's seared onto my retinas. It's exciting to see the films venture out into the world, to screenings at festivals, universities, movie clubs, airing on TV, or streaming online. Kudos to these two movies making their mark! And I'm especially grateful for the opportunity to add my own musical voice to these wonderful collaborations.
