In July of 2011, I was a guest artist at the Native American Arts Festival at the Idyllwild Summer Arts Program, with Joe Baker, Heather Companiott, and others. While there, I taught composition to some Native American high school students, and performed in a final concert at the end of the program. I was fortunate to record the performance, so I've uploaded a YouTube version of my live-to-picture film score: LAST OF THE MOHICANS-SUITE. It's the reduced "suite" version (15:00) of the longer full-orchestra score (72:00). LOTM-Suite was performed by myself on Native American flute and the Idyllwild Summer Chamber Orchestra. (72:00 Version) LAST OF THE MOHICANS was originally made in 1920, and features Barbara Bedford, Wallace Beery and a young Boris Karloff as an Indian. In 2003, Davids, composed an all-new music soundtrack for 72-min classic film, creating a full orchestra score that featured Joe Myers on Guitar, and the Composer himself on Native American flute and Crystal Flute. The score also functions as a "concert" work for orchestra—complete with cricket and bird sounds—which are all performed while the film shows in the concert hall. Premiered by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (2006) at the Landmark Theater, Syracuse, NY. MOVEMENTS: 1. Opening Credits, 2. The Mohicans, 3. Fort Will Henry, 4. Nayappawe, 5. A Shortcut, 6.
