I was excited to pick up an award back in Nov 2015 for "Best Original Music Composition" for this orchestral film score, featuring the vocal work of Grammy Award-winning Joanne Shenandoah, from the Native American Indian Film Festival of the Southeast. And I'd like to add this:
Composing for film is a different beast than writing concert music, giving detailed attention to the emotions on-screen as well as a more nimble approach to what musical styles and genres are used. The task is not something every composer can do well, humbling yourself to the needs of the film, as well as to directors and producers, and of course looming budget restrictions. That is why I’m so proud of the musical score for “Iroquois Creation Story” and the team of contributors who helped make it an award-winning success. We did it!
